How to move in Amorgos

Segnaletica ad Amorgos

The island has a regular bus service that connects the main cities (Katapola,Chora and Egiali), to the monastery of Hozioviotissa, the area of Kato Meria and some beaches: Aghia Anna, Aghios Pavlos, Paradisia, and the bay of Aegiali.

Bus timetables are always available as they are often posted outside shops and taverns; obviously they can also be found at the travel agencies.
In Katapola for example timetables are posted by the Naftilia Kafenion, which is also a shipping agency and is located almost opposite the Skopelitis ferry dock (departures to the small Cyclades).
Tickets are sold on the bus by the driver.
Cars and motorcycles for rent are also available on the island.

The road that connects the entire island is paved but not in perfect conditions, always pay attention to gravel, often present on island roads, sometimes it can be insidious.

In our opinion the best choice to visit the island is renting a car, a small one is better for the narrow streets, which will also offer protection from the wind that in not uncommon in Amorgos.
